Areas of Practice
William R. Bagley Jr., Chair of the Firm's Employment Practice Group, joined the firm as an Associate in August 2004. He has represented employers before state and federal agencies, which include the following: Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights, the New Hampshire Public Employee Labor Relations Board, the New Hampshire Department of Labor, the state trial and appellate courts in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. In addition, Mr. Bagley regularly counsels employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, including compliance with state and federal employment laws, preparing and updating employee handbooks, policies and agreements, managing employees' leaves of absence, disciplinary action and documentation, and terminations and reductions in force.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bagley was an Associate with Devine, Millimet & Branch, P.A., where he was a member of the firm's Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Practice Group. He also served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Howard H. Dana and the Hon. Donald G. Alexander of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
Mr. Bagley graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a minor in Communications. In 1999, he received his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School. He also served as an Articles Editor for the Suffolk University Law Review.
Mr. Bagley is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire, and before the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
